With my feelings on fire
Guess I'm a bad liar
The word smitten made Cassidy's cheeks warm up and she looked up at Will, maintaining her smile as she bit her lower lip to stop herself from smiling too wide. She then turned back to James, shrugging. "Don't believe anything he says. It's just mainly the looks." She responded, gesturing to herself with a mock smug grin.
She tried not to look too disappointed when he let go of her hand but was also comforted by Will's hand in hers. She had to remind herself that the one holding her hand was the Spencer she wanted to spend the night with.
Cassidy didn't actually realise what Will was doing, leaving the middle stool empty but she took it and placed a hand on Will's thigh, absently stroking it lightly. For a brief moment, she looked to her sides and thought to herself that she was damn lucky to be in the middle of a Spencer men sandwich. She honestly could not get over how ridiculously good-looking they both were.
Their humour bounced off each other and Cassidy thoroughly enjoyed watching them rib at each other, subconsciously playing with her hair while watching James just as equally as she watched Will. How she was going to divide her attention between the two, she didn't know.
She held a hand up when James offered a drink. "No thank you. I don't hold my alcohol well, as Will knows all too well." She looked at Will with an amused smirk. "I just want my fish and chips before we go exploring the back alleys of Westminster." She paused and looked at James. "Is that a thing? I don't know if that's a thing." She chuckled.

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
Her jab at his shallowness caused Will to shrug because she wasn't entirely wrong. Her looks did make up for the annoying things she'd said before he could stand to be around her. He narrowed his eyes at her still and scrunched up his nose as if he was offended by her words. Making him out to be an objectifier of women. How dare she.
Her hand on his thigh, though distracting, was also comforting. Any kind of physical contact from her did that to him, distracted and comforted. He also noted the way that James was watching them. It was obvious that he was amused, but Will knew that only he'd pick up on the look that went further than that. Of all the people in Will's life that he'd ever let close to him, James was the one who knew it all. Down to every detail of his ability and the way things were likely to pan out for him. It was why James never judged him for the volatile things he'd say, but would sit him down after and talk him through it. Even if that happened over the phone.
It was clear to Will that his uncle was obviously happy that he'd found someone that he so dearly loved, but Will also knew that he felt sorry for the girl between them. After a moment of dwelling, he noted that James told him to order her a drink and he firmly shook his head, "Oh no. Not this one." He'd said it just as she began to deny it as well which made him laugh. "Back alleys of Westminster, huh?" He looked at her inquisitively and smirked.
James waved the two of them off and scoffed, "Oh c'mon, it's perfect. You can get positively sloshed and you've got your own designated babysitter. William wouldn't let anything happen to you. But alright, I can respect your wishes. Barkeep an order of the special please. Thank you good sir." The older man was in fact sloshed, but he still had his wits about him to notice little things between the two. "I am curious about the story behind your quick dismissal though."

With my feelings on fire
Guess I'm a bad liar
It wasn't so much a jab at his shallowness than it was of what she brought to the relationship in terms of personality. Will and Cas were vastly different from each other and she wasn't entirely certain still what Will saw in her. Self-depracating jokes aside, however, she laughed when he looked affronted.
Whatever looks transpired between her boyfriend and his uncle, Cassidy was not aware of it as she was too busy being absorbed in herself and her behaviour in the presence of two Spencers. She did laugh when Will shared her sentiments about her inability to hold down liquor and shrugged with a playful grimace when he looked at her questioningly. She was obviously a tourist here and she wasn't about to be bashful about it. It wasn't like her trips here before were filled with tours around the city. It was mostly hotels and conferences in hotels. If she were lucky, her father would bring her to architectural gems but those trips were far and few in between.
The fact that James thought she needed to be babysat made her wonder just how much Will had told him about her. She did laugh when James tried to pry the story from them and she gave Will a playfully warning look. "Don't you dare." She pointed a finger at him before turning to James, shaking her head. "You are not going to hear about the night I humiliated the shit out of myself in front of this one." Cassidy responded before realising she had cursed in front of James.
Briefly, she wondered if she should even correct herself. It wasn't like they weren't all adults there and James was half-drunk, would he even notice? Or even care? She shrugged it off before turning to James.
"Alright, I don't know how many more opportunities I will have to ask this but...you've known Will since he was in diapers, you must have some horror stories about him. So, spill." She wriggled her eyesbrows at him before turning to Will with a wicked grin and then turning back to James with an angelic one.

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
Her finger turned to him quickly and Will held his hands up, "I would never." Which was a lie. He'd told his best friend shortly after it happened, mostly because he hadn't been entirely sure what to do with her. It would be one thing if they had been dating for a while at that point, but he'd barely allowed himself any contact with her. That night had just solidified the fact that he wanted to be with her. Will smirked and leaned back mouthing that he would tell his uncle later. He did it dramatically enough that he hoped she would catch onto his joke. It wasn't as though James could really judge her for anything that she did. He was a drunk.
James laughed and placed a hand on his chest. He'd glanced over the swear word seeing as him and his nephew had quite the ungentlemanly vocabulary themselves. However, he found himself sorely disappointed that he wouldn't get to hear the story. When she turned to him and asked him to spill about Will's not so elegant moments, he glanced up at his nephew and grinned wickedly. "Oh there are many to choose from. Let me think about the most embarrassing ones I have in my arsenal." He tapped a finger to his lower lip and arched an eyebrow at William.
Who sat there with a grimace on his face because he was entirely aware of all the stories James liked to tell. None of them made him look good. "Choose wisely, old man." He narrowed his eyes at Cassidy before smiling because while he knew he was sort of capable of being mad at her, he couldn't find it in him to be mad now. They were getting along well, the two most important people in his life. He couldn't ask for more than that. Will tapped her nose before she turned back to James expectantly.
The pressure was on and James finally found one that he thought would appeal to the lady in front of him. "Would you like to hear about the moment Will got into medical practice?"
Will stared at him and scrunched his nose, "Oh good."

Guess I'm a bad liar
She did, indeed, catch on to the joke and she playfully dug her nails into Will's inner thigh. In all honesty, she didn't have to worry too much. Sure it had been one of the lower points of her life that night, but it had also brought her and Will together, so she won't begrudge the memory.
Cassidy lit up when James assured her there were plenty of Will stories to choose from. Will still wasn't as forthcoming with his past than she would like. Although to be fair, neither was she. Will still didn't know she had an older brother, nor that her relationship with her father, though a good one as far as father daughter relationship went, was still restrained. The fact that she was balls to the walls rich was still something Will would not be privy to just yet. She honestly didn't know whether she was ashamed of her monetary status or that it just simply wasn't a thing that needed to be disclosed.
She supposed since Will was also slowly revealing that he too came from money should have let her be less stingy with that info, but she knew sooner or later, he'd find out.
Cassidy turned to Will when he chipped into the conversation and she laughed at the expression on his face. "You've probably seen me at my worst, babe. You don't get to be coy now." She leaned forward and pecked him on the nose before turning back to James. "Yes. Yes I would most definitely like to hear about the moment Will got into medical practice." She chuckled, leaning her elbow on the counter.

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
Will sat back on his barstool while his hand rubbed Cassidy's back. He knew what his uncle was referring to and while it wasn't as terrible as it could have been, he figured that James was just warming up. Will had done some ridiculous things when he was younger, especially when it had just been him and he'd spent all his times with his uncle and his grandfather.
James rubbed his hands together as if it was bigger than what it was and all Will could do was roll his eyes at him. The older man leaned in, "Okay, so, as you must know Will was an only child for half of a decade. When Moira, his mother, got pregnant with the twins Will didn't quite understand what that meant obviously. I mean the boy was only six. Landon and Moira both made a big fuss about it and Will didn't pay much mind to any of the changes. He'd seen babies, but he looked at them like they were aliens. We were at the hospital and there's Will asking dozens of questions about procedures and cures and what each body part did." James glanced at Will and smirked, "Mind you we were in the birth wing of the hospital so he's pointing at the uterus and womb and lady parts on the charts, curious as can be. Well Landon told the man that he was asking all of these questions to be a hundred percent honest and not to spare any details." He burst out into a bit of laughter and placed a hand on his chest, "The look on Will's face...oh it was hilarious!"
Will shook his head, "Guess you had to be there, aye?"
His uncle waved dismissively, "Explains why you've been terrified of women for your whole life though doesn't it?" James looked back at Cassidy, "If you ever plan on having children, just know that he might have PTSD from all the way back then." He laughed again before taking a drink.
"For fuck's sake, really?" Will could feel his face burning at the idea of making a kid with Cassidy and then her having it. The idea was horrifying.

With my feelings on fire
Guess I'm a bad liar
Cassidy leaned back a little, enjoying Will's hand up and down her back. One would think she had been starved for physical contact the way she relished every single touch from Will.
As James started to speak, Cassidy listened intently, eager to drink in even a little bit of Will's past. She laughed at the end of it, turning to Will with an affectionate cringe. "Aww, you poor baby." She reached out and patted his cheek with a chuckle.
James' ridiculous notion about them having children made Cassidy snort and burst out laughing. "Shut up!" She looked at Will incredulously. "No offense, Will but we're not destroying my body until we're well into our thirties." She teased before realising she had basically told Will she could see them having a long future.
Her smile dropped briefly before shaking her head and mouthing an apology to Will, turning quickly to James to ask him to continue with another Will story. "I keep hearing about a best friend. Was this before or after he left England though?"
She knew she'd just dropped a huge bomb on Will's lap and she tried to backpedal as much as possible, hoping he wouldn't be scared off by her vision of their future. If they even had one. They'd only been together for a couple of months, why would she even bring that up! How stupid was she?

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
Her words, while they weren't as horrifying as they should have been to him, did cause him to pause and look at her with wide eyes. She mouthed an apology and he gave her a smile to show that he wasn't quite as disgusted by the idea as a normal guy would have been. Perhaps it was the fact that he was hoping for a future sooner rather than later, as he was on borrowed time. It of course made him sad to think that they wouldn't have their thirties together. He wasn't even going to make it to that point of his life. She turned back to James and Will's smile dropped, glancing up at James a little miffed that he'd even brought it up. He was drunk and careless at the moment, so he supposed he'd let it slide for now.
The look from Will made James sober a bit as he realized what he'd done. He hadn't intentionally brought up their future, especially as he knew that it would be a short one. But the older man could hope and dream for his nephew to have that life. James was sure to keep his thoughts off of his face and he nodded, "Ah yes, the best friend. It's a wonder you've not met him yet. I imagine Will's worried Gabriel would charm you away from him." He looked at Will and hoped to exchange an apologetic look without being too obvious.
"Cassidy is far smarter than most women that can be charmed by that slag. Gabriel isn't challenging enough for a girl like mine," Will recovered his good humor and laughed.
James snorted, "No, but Gabriel was after William left England. In fact, he was the first person I heard about from America." He didn't mean that jokingly that Will hadn't made any friends, his expression had turned serious. Will's uncle couldn't have been more grateful to his best friend for saving him. James didn't know the gory details of William's mid-teen years, but he'd heard enough that chilled him to the bone. "Gabe's a good man. I'm certain that you'll like him a whole lot once Will gets around to introducing you two."

Guess I'm a bad liar
She missed Will's eyes widening and was already overthinking what she had said. It sounded like a joke but if she were being honest with herself, she could see that future with him. Hell, she wouldn't even mind if it happened before they hit their thirties. But Will didn't need to know that. James didn't need to know that she was clingy and needy already.
It was rather annoying and it also made it very clear to Cassidy why she hadn't been able to hold on to one partner for too long. The intrigue of dating a mogul's daughter wore off quickly, especially when said daughter always saw a future with whoever she was dating. But with Will, it was different. He had no interest in knowing who her father was. And he'd seen her on her worst days. Somehow, he still thought she was worth spending time with. Was it really so easy to blame her for being this needy with him?
James' response made her laugh and triggered the need to meet this charmer. Not because she wanted to test that theory, but to meet the person who didn't meet Will's ire. Will calling Gabriel a slag showed a little of how they worked as a friendship and Cassidy couldn't help but want to meet him even more.
"Oh please, you weren't a challenge either, Mr. Grumpy Sourpuss." She teased, turning to Will and bringing his face close for a kiss. It was supposed to be a chaste one but she couldn't help herself as she deepened it for a bit before pulling away. Hey, if she was potentially going to lose Will with her talk of their future, she might as well get as much making out out of it as possible.
She heard the tail end of James' sentence and she finally released Will but still lingering close. "Soon?" She asked, her eyes wide as she looked up at him.

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
Will's friendship with Gabriel was complicated. Not because they hated each other or anything, but rather because Will had tried so hard to hate him at first. Gabe was just not the type of person Will could hate. He was charming, but he was also brutal and upfront which was the kind of thing Will had always been drawn to. If Will had tiptoed around him the way that everyone else did, he supposed they wouldn't have made it past that first interaction when Gabe cheated and knocked him on his ass. At least, that was how Will liked to remember it. Gabe was his most challenging friendship and he cherished it more than he would ever admit out loud.
For Cassidy to be so eager to meet him really tore Will apart. Gabriel was one of the few people that knew Will thoroughly. Perhaps he hadn't known what Will's outcome would be, but he knew of what Will had wanted it to be a long time ago. If Cassidy ever heard those stories, he wondered what she would think of him then. His mind didn't dwell long on those darker memories, especially as Cassidy pulled him out of it with her much deeper than he expected kiss.
James cleared his throat and laughed, tipping back his glass. He hadn't been expecting it either. And when she pulled away, Will was pretty sure his face was bright red. Funny that she had that affect on him. "You should have asked Gabriel to come with you, I miss that kid."
"That kid? He's practically ancient now. Well on his way to thirty," Will shrugged and glanced down at Cassidy with a sigh. "Yes, love. Soon. Although to be honest, I'm frightened that you'll grow as attached to him as you are to Miles. And Gabe knows a lot more about me than I wish for you to ever find out."

Guess I'm a bad liar
Licking her lips as she savoured the look on Will's face after the kiss, Cassidy grinned and wiped his lower lip with her thumb. "Sorry, lipgloss." Her grin turned wicked before she clapped at the arrival of her food. "Okay, you two bicker, lemme enjoy this." She took a deep breath and plucked a chip off the basket and bit into it.
The crispiness of the exterior and the mushiness of the interior worked so well with each other and she moaned slightly. "Yes yes and yes." She nodded and lifted her shoulders in delight at the prospect of meeting Will's best friend. Much like her interrogation of James, Gabriel was most definitely going to suffer through it as well.
Cassidy wanted so badly to reassure Will that nothing and no one was going to stand between her and him. However, whatever that could come out of her mouth about it was going to reek of neediness, which was definitely something she wanted to avoid. So she gave him another peck on the lips and let that be that.
"Okay, James come on, I want more stories about my boyfriend please. He was great with the ladies, wasn't he? You can tell me, I won't be jealous." She chuckled as she continued eating her way through the fish and chips.

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
Will did his best not to laugh when she started working on her food. He'd expected her to like it which was one of the biggest reasons he'd taken her, but he hadn't expected quite how much she'd liked it. He shook his head and kissed her forehead, "Glad you're enjoying your fish and chips intake, love." He sat back and let James go on about his best friend and how he was still disappointed, kid or not that he hadn't come along on the family trip. Charlotte's best friend had come, Miles...well technically his best friend had come, too. But Will hadn't even told Gabriel about the way his holidays were about to go. For fear of jinxing it.
She pecked him on the lips again and he could feel the heaviness lifting away. He did feel comforted by her, more than he'd ever felt comforted by someone before. Gabe didn't have that soothing affect, he was a hard ass on Will and was the king of guilt trips. His fingers stroked her hair absently when she turned back to James for more information. The topic she chose this time made him uncomfortable. Surely she had to know that he was not. Had never been.
James nearly spit out his drink when he laughed and Will just shook his head, "Cmon, love. You of all people should know how my luck with women went." He may have gotten her, but that was the only conquest he'd had.
"Will was only good with the ladies before he developed his...er...wit?" James snorted out a laugh again and patted the counter beside his glass, "Oh I haven't laughed that hard in a while."

She grinned at him widely, not really caring that she must just look like a kid scarfing down cake. It wasn't like it was a secret that she liked food. Will should have known by then that apart from writing and animals, she could spend a whole day just munching on anything.
She pursed her lips in amusement at James' reaction before turning to Will and reaching her left hand to cup his cheek. "I'm just teasing but hey, you never know. I thought you just didn't like me in particular." She gave a nonchalant shrug before returning to her food.
Reaching out to punch James lightly in the arm, Cassidy pointed a finger warningly at him. "Don't tease my boyfriend, that's my job." She chuckled before taking a deep breath. "So, what exactly should I be expecting with your grandmother, Will? I'm guessing she's nothing like you two?"

The Monster
Everything I touch isn't dark enough
William scrunched his nose up, "Uh no, you were one of the few people I actually could stomach. The rest of them are batshit crazy." Not that she hadn't been a bit on the crazy side too, but he wasn't about to say that. He quite liked their not fighting routine. Will didn't mind his uncle's reaction, it was their dynamic after all. James was much more like Gabriel than he ever wished to admit which was likely why the two of them got on so well.
However, Cassidy's reaction did make him laugh for the same reason. She wondered how often she'd be punching his best friend in the arm.
James raised his hands in surrender, but still hadn't stopped his school girl giggling. He tried several times to wash the stray laughter down with his drink, but could barely manage to swallow. Sloshed was definitely the term to describe him now.
Will rolled his eyes, "Well she's not a lush like my uncle. Nor is she as...difficult to please as I am. Honestly, Lottie reminds me of her the most. She's not as hardened as Lottie, but she's incredibly smart and loves everything about the written word. I think she's where it all stemmed from. Trickling down from James to me to Lottie. You're going to adore her, I'm certain of it."

Guess I'm a bad liar
Pursing her lips and pouting sweetly at Will's admission, Cassidy scrunched up her nose and grabbed Will's hand and squeezed it gently. "Aww, I was most definitely one of the batshit ones you hated before, you don't have to lie to make me look good in front of your uncle, baby." She laughed and turned to James, rolling her eyes at his laughter.
She was very much enjoying the fact that they were getting along, something she hadn't quite banked on before. Although her and the twins did also get along quite well so she wasn't all that surprised. Okay, so she wasn't so cocky to think that it would be so easy but still, she was glad it was easy right then. James seemed to like her well enough.
Cassidy turned back to Will and nodded, munching on her chips. She gave him an adoring smile and nodded. "I love Charlotte and Miles and even old lushy here already so," she chuckled and finished the last chip from her basket. "Okay, order an iced tea for me would you, sweetheart? I need to go to the uh...loo." She giggled to herself and jumped off the stool to find the bathroom where she proceeded to wash her hands and her face.
She checked the mirror and found that she was still smiling. Turning around to check whether she was actually alone, Cassidy did a little happy dance that had a lot of air pumping and vibrating mostly. She may be a little giddy over the fact that she was in London with the man she very much adored and being introduced to the rest of his family. And being shown a side of him that she didn't even know existed. She was happy.
Once she had gotten everything out of her system, she reapplied her lipbalm and eyeliner before rejoining her companions.
