All The Boys
She came here to entertain you
He hit the nail on the head. She was used to fooling around in many different beds, but she was not a sleepover type. Not since she was younger when it had strictly been girls nights back before she became the way that she was. Sleeping in another bed just made her go a little crazy and she nodded in response, not giving more away than she already had.
His response made her nod again and she looked at him, debating on whether she wanted to bother with the question that had been prodding at her mind the whole time she'd been in the house. She had Cassidy's side of the story, but after the moments with him, she'd grown curious about his.
"So, what is it with you and Cassidy? I mean, it's probably not for me to ask, but you obviously give a shit in some regard. Why do you treat her like you don't?" Maybe she wasn't just asking about Cassidy. She didn't linger on that thought for long.
Isn't she a dream come true?

imma say all the words inside my head
Don't you tell me what you think that I could be
When the question came, Dylan just froze. Where did this woman get off, asking him such a heavy question like that? His fingers stopped moving and he sighed.
"That's...none of your business, Carstyn." He said quietly. He didn't sound mad, even though he was seething. And to be fair, he was a lot more tired than he was led to believe. "She's off limits, alright?" He continued.
I'm the one at the sail, I'm the master of my sea

Adrian couldn't say that she was surprised by his reaction. That was the whole reason she'd prefaced it saying that it wasn't her place, but that preface didn't mean that she wasn't going to be straight up with him. It wasn't her nature to tiptoe around things, least of all when it came to one of her best friends, if not her only best friend.
She pursed her lips and nodded slowly, "So I can lie for you, but I can't be allowed to know why." It wasn't said as a question because it was safe to say that he'd made it clear. With a deep breath she contemplated what she should do, whether she should just have gotten up and left or if she should work it from a different angle.
After a moment, she leaned in and pressed her lips to the corner of his mouth, "I won't push, I was just curious."
Isn't she a dream come true?

Her response was a lot less venemous than he was expecting. He had anticipated more. At least something he could justify throwing her off his lap and going to bed. But no, she was doing him a kindness by not being the bitch he wanted her to be. He should just walk off. He should.
And then she had to get intimate. He didn't do intimacy. He didn't do relationships. He'd spent his life building this brand because people expected something from him that he couldn't deliver. Cassidy was not the only Paige living in the deeply opaque shadow of Geoffrey Paige.
He had been fine with people telling their friends they knew him or had slept with him or partied with him because that's all they wanted. Nobody actually took the time to get to know him, which had been fine for him. And here, with that small allowance Adrian gave him, his mind spiralled.
An emotional block walled up over him and he gave her a smirk. "Curiosity got Alice in an acid trip down the rabbit hole. I don't think you wanna make the same mistake."
He wrapped an arm around her waist and stood up, tossing the book on to the nearest table along with the reading glasses before walking towards the door. "You have a good night, Carstyn."

The smirk sealed what she already saw. He was predictable and she wasn't naive to think that she was going to change anything about him. It bothered her more that he could treat his sister the way that she'd heard than it did that he could ask so much from her and give back so little. She stood up when he did and smoothed down her tank top.
Adrian was quick to shrug away from him and walk towards the door. Her restlessness wasn't gone, but she was done for the night. His words were lost on her as she turned the corner and went down the hallway that would lead to his sister's bedroom. If she could help it, she wouldn't be seeing him before she left the next morning.
Isn't she a dream come true?
