imma say all the words inside my head
Don't you tell me what you think that I could be
After a heated argument with his father about his responsibilities and owning up to his shit, Dylan had to admit that his father brought up a few damn good points. He was approaching thirty and his father was not getting any younger. Soon enough he was going to have to take over.
It wasn't like he didn't already have his double degree in Business Science and Management. He had the tools, he just didn't think that he would have to apply them until he got older.
And then his father had to bring up his partying ways that had to stop or he would lose all his money and the house. That sort of sobered him up. Especially after being compared to his perfect little sister who could do no wrong in his father's eyes. Yeah, that wasn't pleasant.
But that didn't stop him from moping around the rest of the day. His father gave him until the end of the week to get his shit together. He had time.
Meanwhile, all he wanted to do was eat cereal for dinner so he was in the kitchen when he heard voices in the hall. Cassidy was home and she had brought a friend. Dylan was in just his boxers and contemplated on leaving the kitchen so he didn't have to see his sister.
After a brief moment of contemplation, he rolled his eyes and set the cereal box and the jug of milk on the island as he grabbed a serving bowl to pour his cereal in.
Cassidy was laughing when she entered the kitchen but when she saw Dylan, her smile dropped. Dylan wouldn't admit to it but a mixture of guilt and sadness settled in the pit of his stomach.
"Figures you'd be eating cereal for dinner." Cassidy remarked before leaving the kitchen. Her friend passed by and Dylan did a double take when he saw that it was Adrian. "What the hell?" he slid off the stool and walked over to her. He grabbed her arm and turned to see Cassidy had turned a corner. "What are you doing here?" He asked, panic starting to rise in him.

All The Boys
She came here to entertain you
With the holidays over, the guilt over not going to California had faded the smallest bit. Obviously, she'd been stuck thinking about what she'd done instead and it was beginning to drive her crazy. She decided to focus on work as best as she could as well as focusing on her night classes that had begun again. She wasn't going to be a model forever and with those night classes, she was hoping to get a degree, finally, and put her mind to better use than what it was currently being used for. Adrian had to admit, her mistake had led her to reconsider her life a bit. She didn't want to just be adored for her looks, she wanted to be valued for her mind and what she could bring to the table.
While classes had only been in session for a couple of weeks, she still took comfort in the minor distraction when Cassidy called her up to hang out. She'd been dying to hear from her friend about the wonderful London trip that she'd gone on with the stud boyfriend who had done a miraculous one-eighty since she first met Cas. They'd grown to be good friends, honestly, Adrian's closest friend. They dove into each others' life and hashed out some of the important need-to-knows of their friendship. Cassidy was one of the only people who knew Adrian's full story, what with her mother being sick and having been bailed on by two different men in Adrian's life. And Cassidy had gone on to tell her about the shitty relationship she had with her brother and the death of her mother. The last bit had struck a painful chord for Adrian which seemingly only brought her closer to Cas.
With it being the first time that she'd been to her friend's home, Adrian had decided on a classier look rather than the typical stuff she wore. She couldn't really stand to be judged on her looks, not today. And she was glad that she'd made the choice because Cassidy seemed to live high-class. She walked into the house, looking around while Cassidy spoke. Just as they entered the kitchen, she heard Cassidy speak to someone else and when she lifted her eyes to who, she all but froze. It was really only a moment of hesitation before she tried to keep up with Cassidy and walk past him.
He grabbed her arm quickly and she yanked it away from him, "Huh, well that would explain a lot." Cassidy had said that her brother was an ass, Adrian would call that the understatement of the century. "I'm friends with your sister, now get over yourself and don't touch me again." Adrianna hated looking at him, especially with the way he was dressed...or rather wasn't dressed.
Isn't she a dream come true?

Adrian's response was expected but it didn't change how Dylan was feeling. How the hell did they even meet? The universe was obviously fucking with him at this point. How else would it explain their paths crossing like this. Montana wasn't that small.
"Listen...whatever Cassidy has told you and whatever your perception of me is, please just don't tell her we know each other, alright?" He tried to hide the anxiety from his voice but he didn't know how well he was doing.
Cassidy didn't need to have a lower opinion of him than she already did. If she found out that he had slept with her friend, she would probably never forgive him.

All The Boys

Adrian looked at him when he asked her to keep their encounters from his sister and her best friend. If anything, it solidified the perception of him that he clearly knew she had. Was he really asking her to lie for him? Was he really so dense as to think that he deserved anything from her?
She glanced in the direction that Cassidy had gone and then back at him, "Maybe if you hadn't pulled me away we could have avoided it altogether, but she's going to ask what this was about and while you might not be above lying to people, I am. Besides, there's no way you could make yourself look worse than you already are." If anything it was only going to make Cassidy look at her in a different light.
Even so, Adrianna was not about to lie to the only real friend she had. It wasn't fair of him to ask her to do so, not that he was thinking about what it would cost her.

Adrian was not being co-operative and a flare of anger surged in Dylan. He knew he shouldn't be angry, Adrian sort of had every right not to listen to him. He hadn't been the most decent guy around her. Hell, he just wasn't a decent guy all around. But this had to do with family. His family. Surely she had an inkling of what that was like.
"You can tell her I was hitting on you. Just...please. Adrian." He was beyond desperate now and it showed in his body language and tone. He had never shown his true emotions to anyone and he would probably regret doing it in front of her of all people but he just didn't want Cassidy to hate him any more than she already did.

The way he spoke, it was hard to miss how desperate he was. One thing she prided herself on was the fact that she was honest to a fault. She hardly ever found a reason to lie to anyone and when she did, it ate away at her something fierce. Yet here he was, begging her to do exactly that and she was...debating on it.
"What does it matter? It's not like she doesn't know what you do and how often you do it. Why should I lie to her? To protect you?" Adrian shook her head and looked down the hall again. It was a wonder that the subject of their conversation hadn't come back to pull her away or ask, but she was sort of glad that Cas hadn't.
In the moment, Adrian took the time to look him over. He really did care whether she told his sister or not, but she didn't understand why. What did it change for him? Neither of them had known that they had Cassidy in common when it happened. Her eyes scanned his face and she almost felt for him. Almost.

"No, to protect you." He took a deep breath and pressed the heel of his palm against his brow bone. "Look...you're just as culpable in this as I am but at least she already hates me." He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Just...if you are going to tell her, just don't include what we did. Tell her how big of a douche I was and have been. Just don't..." he let his words linger in the air before Cassidy walked back.
"Adri- oh God, can't I have one friend that you don't hit on?" Cassidy frowned as she went to Adrian and gripped her hand. "Come on, Aid. He's not worth it."

Adrian snorted, "Right, as if you give a damn about me. Get real, Dylan." Even as she said it, she wanted to believe him. His mannerisms, his body language, it all led her to sort of feel like she should. If it was anyone other than him, she might have believed it.
His suggestion, it wasn't the most wild idea. And she could go on for days about how terrible of a person he was, but before she could say anything, Cassidy came walking in. Adrian watched the interaction between the two of them, or rather, the way Cassidy reacted to him and she frowned. Her eyes lifted back up to Dylan's as her hand was claimed by his sister. When she was certain that Cassidy wasn't looking, she mouthed okay before she could be dragged out of the kitchen.
Already she regretted it. She didn't owe him anything and if something happened between her and Cas because she was keeping this from her, she'd be certain to raise hell with him. But for some stupid reason, she felt for him. She couldn't help it, she was a sucker for him.

Don't you tell me what you think that I could be
Cassidy's presence jarred Dylan from making any more demands of Adrian. He could see the hurt coming off of his sister in droves. It was his own fault. He'd spent a majority of his life blaming her for their mother's death. It took him too long to realise that Cassidy wasn't to blame and by the time he did, the damage was irreparable.
The time he could have spent doting on her the way their father did was spent in a self-imposed exile. She had every reason to hate him. Knowing that he had slept with her friend shouldn't be one of them.
He caught Adrian's mouthed response and admittedly felt relief with every bone in his body. She was right, she didn't owe him anything. Now, he kinda owed her.
This was a shitty situation he had put himself in but in the end, as long as Cassidy didn't know, he was fine with it. Her hatred, he could handle. He didn't want her disappointment.
When the ladies left, his eyes traveled to the cereal he had poured for himself and sighed. Dumping it into the sink, he stowed everything away and went back to his room. Suddenly, his appetite was gone.

She came here to entertain you
It was easily the biggest mistake of her life agreeing to stay the night. Cassidy had insisted, but Adrian knew she should have stuck to her guns and left. She couldn't be stuck in the same house as Dylan, not after what happened. Not after she found out that it was her best friend's brother. That was so wrong. And she'd lied to Cassidy about it, or rather, hadn't disclosed all of the information.
Cassidy was already asleep, and Adrian envied her for how quickly she was able to. She was restless, her mind overactive. She eventually got up as quickly and quietly as she could and slid out of the room. She wasn't sure what she was on a mission for, whether it was fresh air or water or just movement. The house was like a maze compared to her studio apartment and even the house she grew up in. When she passed by a door, she found the light was on and she peeked inside, fully aware that she was being a little too nosy for her own good. What she found made her regret her choice to get up.
But she couldn't help herself, she pushed the door open a little further so that she could step inside what looked to be a library and she closed it behind her. Adrian made her way quietly across the room where the object of her overactive mind sat, "Doing some late night reading, are we? What's your poison, erotica? Romance novels?" She smiled the smallest bit and folded her arms across her chest.
Isn't she a dream come true?

Dylan didn't usually have trouble sleeping. In fact, before today, he usually slept soundly at any time of the day. That night, however, he couldn't even close his eyes long enough to drift off.
He wandered through the halls aimlessly before settling in the library. He used to spend hours devouring the books in here. He didn't quite know when that changed.
Sighing, he grabbed a book at random and took out his dad's reading glasses. He tried them on and chuckled to himself. "I must look like an idiot." He mumbled but sat down in one of the armchairs and started reading.
He was almost half way through half of the book when he heard Adrian's voice. He took off the glasses and put down the book. "Nah, I get those from Porn Hub." He rubbed his eyes and turned to look at the desk clock. "Jesus Christ..." he mumbled and stretched his arms up.
"Cas roped you into a sleepover?" He asked, a hint of a smirk on his lips.

His response was far from surprising and she rolled her eyes, "You're starting to become predictable." She grinned and wrapped her arms around her torso, walking into the room a little further, her eyes taking in the shelves that were filled with books in all directions. It was such an interesting layout, although she supposed she shouldn’t have been surprised.
Adrian finally made her way over to him and plucked the book from his hands. She kept her finger marking the page as she sat down in his lap without much hesitation. She hated him, obviously she hated him, but she couldn’t help herself.
Looking the book over, she scanned the page that he was on and nodded thoughtfully, “Interesting choice. Not something I’d have pegged you for.”

Of all things he thought she would do, sitting on his lap was the last one. After yesterday, he thought she would avoid him like the plague. Having her there confused him but he didn't say anything.
As she looked through the book, his hand settled on her thigh while he propped up the other on the arm, his chin resting on a closed fist. "No snarky comments about my being able to read?" He asked with a smirk.
The fingers on her thigh began to lightly move over her bare skin. "What's keeping you up so late, Carstyn?" He asked.

Adrian did her best to ignore the feeling that shot through her when his hand rested on her thigh. It was unfair how intoxicating his presence was now that she'd slept with him. Before this, she couldn't fathom doing what she was at the moment. Her focus remained on the book until his question to which she turned and looked at him, "That would have been predictable, I like to mix it up here and there."
His fingers started moving on her skin and she shrugged, "Got restless, decided to walk it off." Better than telling him what she really was thinking. She couldn't help but wonder if she'd subconsciously been hoping to catch him up, too. Lucky her, she'd found him.
Adrian looked back at the book in her hands, "What about you? I didn't peg you for a late night scholar type." She wanted to stop his hand because it was more than mildly distracting, but she supposed it was only fair game as she was sitting on his lap.

"Mmm, woman of many talents, I see." He responded with a light chuckle. The fact that she hadn't pushed his hand away emboldened him to keep at it. He shouldn't have, he knew that. He'd just begged the woman to not tell his baby sister about them and here he was, trying to start something again.
"Not used to sleeping in someone else's bed?" He asked, a little distracted. Her hair was tickling his cheek and the way she moved in his lap was making him regret being awake at this hour.
He breathed out a laugh and shrugged. "I'm not. Had trouble sleeping." He admitted. Briefly, he wondered whether he should just be honest with her. He thrived on being honest, after all. But the woman already had so much power over him, what with being his secret keeper and all. And he didn't know her enough to know whether she was the type to lord something like that over someone.
