"Eh," he made a face and shrugged. He'd had sixteen years of motherly love, he could give some up for Layla. "Oh that's for sure going to happen. It'd be like we don't exist." He chuckled, leaning his cheek against their joined hands as he looked at her. "They're gonna be lucky to have mom and dad. And you."
He jumped back from her bodily harm and when she started teasing him, he rolled his eyes and shrugged. "You're right. Leave the door unlocked some time." He grinned before standing up and helping her off the bed. "I think we've been here long enough." He nodded just as the nurse walked in, her mouth opening to say something before she smiled.
"I was about to tell you we need the room for another patient." The nurse said before discreetly handing Patch a small envelope which he kept in his pocket. "Thank you," he mouthed and tugged at Layla's hand. "Come on, honey."

"Don't act like you won't be the same. I'm gonna struggle for any kind of attention," She jutted her lower lip out at him and fluttered her eyelashes. She had to admit though, if she had a girl, Patch was screwed and she took so much comfort in that. Her eyes softened and she squeezed his hand, "It's only lucky to have me because I had you." As the words left her mouth she could feel tears starting to fill her eyes and she groaned, "Noooo, I'm not doing this again."
She took his hand when he helped her off the bed and she rolled her eyes, "You wish. But yes, let's get the hell out of h-" She cut off when the nurse walked in and pressed her lips together out of embarrassment. Layla wasn't good around these places.
As he tugged on her hand, she curled around his arm and gave an awkward wave to the nurse before following him out. Once they were out of the room, she looked up at him and arched an eyebrow, "She gave you something. What'd she give you?"
but always keep them on a leash

When the left the room, Layla's question caused him to roll his eyes. "VD." He responded without missing a beat. "Wanna go home and tell mom or go to the movies?" He asked as they left the hospital.
He didn't think to share the picture because he wanted it for himself. It was petty but she had refused it before so it was his. He wanted to hold on to it.
