All The Boys
She came here to entertain you
When he turned to her and offered up his connections, she frowned. He wasn't wrong, Cassidy was bent on doing anything she could to make the transitioning easier. Her problem came with the fact that he'd already flown her out to California. He'd done so much just with that, she didn't feel right taking advantage of their connections or the money that came with it. How was she supposed to say yes?
Of course she knew that she didn't want her mother to be alone. And Adrian had been making the necessary contact with her professor and her agent about taking some time away from Montana and staying in California for the next few months. She hadn't mentioned anything to Cassidy about it, and she was worried to mention it to Dylan. If it were up to her, she'd disappear in the night and nobody would have to know that she was gone.
She waited until they were finished with the dishes before she gripped the kitchen counter and let out a sigh, "I can't take her back to Montana, but...I think I'm going to stay here." Adrian didn't turn to look at him, she knew that it probably wasn't going to make much difference to him, but she didn't want to see either way.
Isn't she a dream come true?

imma say all the words inside my head
Don't you tell me what you think that I could be
Her silence was met with his and he quietly stacked up the dishes to the side. When she finally spoke, Dylan could have sworn a little shock went through his body.
He took a step away from her and leaned against the counter, looking away from her. If he didn't come back with Adrian, he knew Cassidy would pitch a fit. She would blame him for somehow screwing up. Part of him was okay with it but another, very big part of him wasn't.
Amelia wasn't the only one who couldn't be alone when it happened. He couldn't imagine what Adrian would do if she was alone. There was no way in hell Cassidy was going to let this fly.
"Please be rational about this, Adrian." He said, his tone quite level despite the emotions brimming over the surface.

As soon as he stepped away, she felt the knots in her stomach tighten. She gripped tighter to the counter and kept her eyes down. She didn't know what he was thinking, she didn't know if she wanted to. It wasn't as though she hadn't thought about it since the moment she arrived. Her mother needed help and she needed someone there when things got bad and who would be better than her own daughter? The person that had been there when everything got hard. Adrian was Amelia's constant just as much as her mother was hers. She couldn't leave her to deal with it alone and she knew her mother would be hard pressed on staying.
He asked her to be rational, but she was. She didn't know what else to do. Adrian took a deep breath and turned so that her back was pressed against the counter. She continued to keep her eyes away from him, "What else would you suggest I do? She won't leave and she shouldn't be alone. What other choice do I have, Dylan?" She knew it wasn't ideal. And she hated that she was springing this on him now because it was bound to bring on some tension between him and Cassidy, but she wasn't sure what else she had.
"I'll call Cassidy, I'll tell her that I just couldn't do the goodbye thing. And I'll come back...once it's over." Because then California wouldn't hold anything for her and she'd have no reason to stay.
Isn't she a dream come true?

Dylan sighed softly when she rationalised the situation. He knew he had to understand the logic behind it. He had been thinking the exact same thing only seconds ago. He couldn't begrudge her the minimal time she had with her mother.
He took a deep breath before pushing himself away from the counter. "Fine." He nodded. He knew he couldn't be angry with her, it wouldn't make any sense if he was. He had no right to be.
"Just come home."
He wanted so badly to just wrap her in his arms and kiss her but it wouldn't be fair to either of them. So he just patted her arm and left the house.
