The way she frowned caused him to laugh silently and think how similar it was to her mother's. He could feel her getting sleepier by the second as they moved through the house.
Her words made him smile and he stopped mid walking and pressed his lips on hers briefly. "I'm not doing anything I don't want to do." He responded before continuing to walk down the hall and into her bedroom. He didn't linger as he brought her straight to her bed, setting her down gently.
He climbed in after and slid his arms around her from behind. It was the most intimate he had ever been with with a woman and he couldn't see himself running away anymore.

The fact that he didn't hesitate in getting in beside her made her heart squeeze and she placed her hands over his that were wrapped around her. Honestly, she felt like it was just easy. Maybe she was getting delusional in her exhaustion, but he didn't seem to hesitate nearly as much with her anymore. It was all the comfort in the world that she could get from him.
Her eyes drooped, "Her...the medical papers and directions...are on the counter in the kitchen." When her eyes closed she sighed softly and let her mind drift to him. She thought about where they'd started and how they'd ended up. That paired with the steady breathing behind her, she took only a minute before she fell asleep.
Isn't she a dream come true?

Dylan didn't sleep but he stayed in her bed until he was sure she was asleep, before sliding out. He checked the rest of the rooms for Amelia and when he found her, he knocked gently before entering.
He saw her stir as he sat on the edge of her bed. "It's Dylan. I put Adrian to sleep. How are you doing, pretty lady?" He smiled gently down at her.
They spent the rest of the day just talking with intermittent bathroom, medicine and food breaks. When Amelia asked him to bring her out, Dylan did, leaving a note just in case Adrian woke up but when they got back, she was still asleep.
By dinner time, Dylan ordered in, making sure he got things that Amelia could eat and he set the table under Amelia's still watchful eye. He gave her a cool drink and told her he was going to go and wake Adrian up.
He came into her room and shook her gently. "Aid? It's time for dinner."

The pressure on her shoulder made her stir and when his voice filled her ears, she let her eyes flutter open. It took a minute before she registered that he said dinner which meant that she'd been out for much longer than she intended. It actually made her panic and she sat up quickly, "Is she okay? Shit, I shouldn't have slept so long. God dammit!"
Adrian started to push the blankets off of her and she took her hair down just to smooth it back up again. She didn't wait for Dylan as she climbed out of her bed and made her way out of the room. Her initial thought was to go to her mother's bedroom, but when she passed to go down the hall, she heard a voice that stopped her. "Dunno why you're going in there, you're not going to find anything." It was the best she'd sounded in the last couple of days that Adrian felt prickling beneath her eyes.
She turned the corner and saw her mother sitting at the kitchen table with an amused smirk on her lips, "Come eat, baby. I had your boy order from our favorite place." Adrian turned to look over her shoulder at Dylan and she glanced back at her mother. She didn't know what he did or said, but she couldn't take the overwhelming relief that she felt as she hurried over to the table and hugged her mom. Amelia smiled and leaned closer, "I don't think he's going anywhere anymore, baby. I kinda like him."
Adrian waited until he walked into the kitchen and she released her mother only to do the same thing to Dylan, wrapping her arms tighter around him.
Isn't she a dream come true?

Adrian's freak out caused Dylan to deflate slightly because he couldn't imagine the pressure she had been under staying here looking after her mother alone. It made him feel even guiltier than before that he had just left. But he wasn't here because of him. He had to remind himself that.
He left the room and followed Adrian out, watching quietly at the exchange between mother and daughter and he smiled softly. He straightened up as he walked into the kitchen just as Adrian slammed into him. He wrapped his arms around her and looked at Amelia who gave him a smirk. He scrunched his nose up in response before kissing the top of Adrian's head. "Go wash up and we'll eat, alright?"

Amelia couldn't help the smugness on her face. She knew his type, although the ones she'd been with hadn't grown up before her eyes the way that Dylan seemed to do for Adrian.
As he released her, Adrian nodded and flashed her mother a smile before heading towards the bathroom. She knew she looked a mess, her hair was a mess, her face had makeup from three days ago still on her eyes and she definitely looked like she'd just woken up. All while the guy she liked was just in the next room. How had she managed to let herself look this way? She scrubbed at her face, brushed out her hair and brushed her teeth before coming back out and looking a little more like herself and less like an overworked zombie.
Adrian wrapped her arms around him from behind for a brief moment before she made her way to the food and began dishing hers and her mother's food out. She carried over the plates and set them in front of where they were sitting before she claimed her spot between Dylan and her mother.
Amelia snorted, "You look human again."
Her daughter rolled her eyes and shot back, "So do you."
Isn't she a dream come true?

Dylan went over to Amelia and poked her shoulder. "Stop looking at me like that, woman." He said with a small, nervous chuckle. He sat across from Amelia and waited for Adrian to come out.
When she did, looking a lot less sleepy, Dylan smiled and squeezed her hand, chuckling at the mother daughter banter.
"Claws in, ladies." He grinned and started to dig in. The night was reminiscent of the last time he was here and it was just easy. Amelia was animated, Adrian was feisty and Dylan was wondering how this all became his new normal somehow.
