My persuasion can build a nation
You'll do anything for me
Emma immediately noticed something was off when all Nora did was nod as a response. She scrambled off the ride and followed Nora, sliding her hand through the young girl's arms, stopping her from moving. Emma crouched down so she was looking up at Nora and she pushed the young girl's hair to the side, cupping her cheek so she was looking at Emma.
"Nora love, I love your father and you have to know that I love you too." She started with a reassuring smile. "No matter what happens, you me and Leah, we're the unit. Your father is the happy bonus." She added with a little chuckle. She was getting choked up which was so unlike her but this young girl was a big part of the reason she wanted things to work out between Elliot and her.
The next words she would utter was a promise she wanted to keep but she didn't know if she would be able to. "I'm going to always be here for you. In whatever capacity I can be."
She wished she didn't have her own hopes up but they were way up.

House of Memories
I thought of you from time to time
Coming to a stop, she didn't want to look at Emma because she didn't like that she was crying. What reason did she have for it? Emma was just someone that came along, she knew it could have been temporary. She knew that there had never been a guarantee that things would work out. But she also knew that Emma was the first girl that she'd ever seen her father even look at. In all her life, she'd seen plenty of women looking at her dad and she always sort of knew why. Not one time did he ever look back at them the same way.
When Emma came into their life, things changed and she saw Elliot happier than he'd ever been. It wasn't that Nora thought he wasn't happy with just her, but she knew he'd been missing something. And Nora knew that she'd been missing something, too. Emma cupped her cheek so that she then had to look at her and the tears started sliding down her cheeks the moment she did. Here this woman was saying that she loved them, but if that was the case, why wouldn't it be forever? Why did it have to be temporary? She didn't understand what was keeping them from being a family.
"Why don't you think it'll be longer? You love us, why would you leave?" At this point, she felt like her heart had been broken and she was just trying to mend it with Emma's words, but something was holding her back. It only made sense to her that the only reason things would end was because Emma didn't want them anymore. She didn't even consider her father being the one to end things because she knew the extent of his feelings. She'd grown up watching his every move, she knew him better than anyone else.

My persuasion can build a nation
You'll do anything for me
When she saw Nora starting to tear up, a strangled sound came from Emma before she pulled Nora into a tight hug. She stroked the younger girl's hair, making soothing sounds as she tried to calm the girl down. She didn't have the heart to tell her that she wanted to stay but the variable was Elliot. Emma wasn't at all certain whether he had a place in his heart and home for her. She was still under the impression that she was competing with a ghost.
Her questions came and Emma just looked at her, wiping at Nora's eyes and ignoring everyone looking at them funny.
"I don't want to leave. I won't ever want to leave. But I'm not the only one in this, baby girl." Emma pulled her in for another hug. She was starting to tear up as well but she held back.
"I don't have all the say in this."

House of Memories
I thought of you from time to time
Nora shook her head and clung to Emma tightly. It still didn't make any sense. If she didn't want to leave, then why couldn't she just be Nora's new mom? There was no end in the tears that fell down her face, even as Emma wiped them and tried to explain. None of it was adding up and she hated that she couldn't just get it.
When she said that she wasn't the only one in it and that she didn't have all the say, it started to click in her mind. She still didn't see what Emma did, but it was only because she saw the exact opposite. If anyone was going to back out, it definitely wouldn't be Elliot. Her eyebrows pulled together and she shook her head again, "But Dad's not going anywhere. Emma, we love you. Both of us. Don't you see that?"
Nora may not have seen her parents together, but she was well aware of how much her father loved her mother. He'd been brokenhearted for so long, but now that he wasn't, it made sense for them all to move forward. Why wait? Why hold off on anything? They all loved each other, wasn't that just enough?
