i just wanna be a criminal with you For Lucy, tonight was a night just like any other night. There was nothing in particular she had to do; no one she had to specifically meet, steal from, buy from or cover for. She was practically free. As free as she could be, anyway. That didn't mean information didn't stop flowing; the world didn't pause for her, so even when she didn't think she was working, she absolutely was.
People like her didn't have specific places where they worked. But they did have their natural habitats, and this particular bar was a surefire way to find her. Just as she curled her hand around another drink, she caught sight of a familiar face walking through the door. She knew what this person's presence meant; only Reid was ballsy enough or hell, smart enough to come looking for information from the likes of her. They'd had their fair share of run-ins before. It was always the same when something had happened, but even Lucy couldn't deny that she kind of... Liked the rapport.
She even grinned in her direction, with the kind of humour quickly hidden behind the glass in her hand. Just another hit of liquid courage - like she needed it - before fighting this fire head on. "Evening, love." She greeted, promptly raising the glass in her direction; "Looking for little old me?"

Being a cop wasn't as glamorous as TV made it out to be. It was paperwork on top of political bullshit on top of more paperwork. On the rare occasions that she actually got to do something away from her desk, it was to settle domestic disputes and breaking up bum fights.
And then there were cases with small time crooks which just add on to the paperwork rather than actually doing anything worth while. On most occasions, they get to go on mere technicality. It wasn't what Reid had thought it would be.
But tonight, she was following a lead that could very well go somewhere. It could very well be the case that got her a promotion. Which would only be possible if the lead actually co-operated.
Seated next to her, she ordered a club soda and smirked at the woman's question.
"Have you done something I should be looking for you for?"

i just wanna be a criminal with you The seat beside her was gone in an instant. Lucy expected as much, else she would have bothered to get up and take steps towards her. She knew she'd be drawn in, but she also knew there was a less-than-personal reason behind the decision.
The drink order alone proved that. Lucy actually rolled her eyes at it, because in her mind she saw the lack of alcohol as annoying. Just once, she'd have liked the chance to see Reid outside the usual uniform and the usual restrictions that complied with it.
"I could do alotta things that'd make you look at me." She replied promptly, her tone arguable more suggestive than the quick words she chose. But it was quick to die off; "But this looks like business. I don't wanna be looked at by you if it's about your business."

Reid stifled a chuckle at the other woman's response. Any other day, she would have appreciated the flirtatious banter they had going on but it wasn't the night to do so.
"Then it's too bad I have to. You know why I'm here. Unpleasant as it is, you heard what you heard and that's valuable information. And officially, that's our relationship." She nodded at the bartender and took a sip of the offered glass. "So be a dear and tell me everything."

i just wanna be a criminal with you It was so typical Lucy wanted to roll her eyes. She preferred the clever banter to anything remotely concrete. Still, she did her best not to look bored by the way Reid expertly played off her enticing kind of approach. At least, she was pretty sure it was just a little enticing.
There was a certain way to go about this. She knew that. Taking the stern words given was a smart course of action. Safe. Clever within itself.
But she had always been daring despite police presence. So with an arm pressed to the bar top, she dared to lean in a fraction; "Only if you be a dear and tell me what you want our unofficial relationship to be."

She didn't hide her amusement this time, not when she practically walked herself into a corner there. The flirtatious banter they had kept up in their acquaintance was definitely something Reid enjoyed but there had to be a time and place. This was neither.
However, it was most unlike Reid not to cater to whoever she spoke to just so she could get what she wanted. So she bit.
She leaned into the other woman and cleared her throat. "I would if you could handle me."

i just wanna be a criminal with you Was that a little bit of enjoyment filtering through the usually stonewalling exterior Lucy received? She couldn't help the way she was confused by the thought. It might have been confusing, but even she couldn't deny it was intriguing.
There was a kind of fire derived from that little way she had leaned in towards Lucy. It wasn't like it was an obvious play, but she knew this woman didn't make a single move without planning it first. Maybe she was trying to rattle her by pretending to give in. That wouldn't have surprised her in the slightest.
"Let me guess," She started as she reeled back a fraction. Giving up any ground was uncommon, but maybe it was deserved, "You wouldn't dare fuck around with someone like me. People in your spot are way too high and mighty to ever look past a bad reputation. And really, what's so wrong about a little law breaking here and there?"

When Lucy moved away, Reid pretended not to be surprised or, if she was really honest with herself, hurt by the action and chuckled at her assumption. "I'm just a lowly cop, there's nothing high and mighty about my position." She shrugged.
"Let's just cut the bullshit. You have what I want. I just want to know if it was really him." She said. "Besides. I know for a fact that him being behind bars serves you a lot more than it does me."
