With her busy clearing her throat, Cassidy didn't realise that Will was quick to want to respond to distress. It might just have been reflex, being a med student and all. When she had managed to compose herself, she did see a change in his demeanour at her choice of words.
His cocky response brought another snort and a raise of her left eyebrow. She gave him a once over and decided right then and there that if she did have a burly boyfriend just ready to pounce on someone she was seen watching, she was sooner to come out on top of Will than he could even begin to lay a finger. Meaning to say, she thought Will was a twig.
It made her chuckle and shake her head when he continued with his line of veiled reassurance. "That nasty thing you caught must have really knocked you off course to let you be spouting nice shit like that to me." She responded with a smirk.
Cassidy did realise that the question, while harmless, was something she had been wondering for a while now. She was well known around campus for both being her father's daughter and also for just being an all around good person (despite her treatment of one Will Spencer) and yet the attention she usually got from the guys around campus were very innocent and almost familial. It knocked her smirk down a peg or two before she hid it behind drinking her milk.
"I'm surprised your significant other isn't already pulling at my hair for keeping you here longer than necessary."

The dead, but never mourned "You're probably right. I think they drugged me," He rolled his eyes at her, his lips twitching into a reserved smirk of his own. And yet, she wasn't wrong entirely, nor had he been lying. The drug therapy made him act differently, it dulled his senses and eased his monster, but it was still lingering in the depths. He was exhausted from being poked at and messed with all day, he'd likely blame the way he was acting on that as well. It wasn't because he liked her, or even cared about her. He was just passing time and not causing drama for the time being. Besides, if she was going to be civil, he figured he could be too.
She turned the topic back on him and he outright laughed. She couldn't be dense enough to believe he had a significant other. Will shook his head, "That was a good one. We both know how unlikely it is that I'd have a girlfriend." He didn't even acknowledge the significant other comment because he wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of insinuating he was gay. Will might not have been a ladies man by any means, but he wasn't a man's man either.
Will was not a people person. He didn't like anyone, he didn't talk to anyone and he didn't waste his time on feelings of any sort towards anyone. Which was exactly why he wondered what in the hell he was doing with her at the moment. And yet, he stayed anyway.

She laughed good-naturedly, her fingers running through her hair as she leaned back against her chair. Will was something else, wasn't he? He may not be the nicest to talk to most of the time but in small doses, he was actually quite all right.
"Touche." She pointed a finger at him to emphasise the statement. Although truthfully, she actually wished he did have someone he could be soft to. If his prowess in literature was anything to go by, a girl could be pretty lucky to have him around.
Shaking her head subtly, she finished her milk and set it aside. Subconsciously, Cassidy bit her lower lip and looked over at the waiting area. Elena was still not out and she was already exhausting her charm on Will.
"Although it does beg the question." She started to say. "Are you the way you are because you haven't gotten laid or you're just generally a dick?" She finished with a small smirk, meant to indicate she was joking.

The dead, but never mourned Will watched her eyes move back to the waiting area and he found himself frowning. He remembered sitting in the waiting room once before, not under the same circumstances, but he could still remember the anxiety he felt waiting to hear about his mother and the baby. He couldn't imagine waiting to hear if his loved one was okay or if there was something severely wrong with them. Which was often why he never spoke about his illness and hospital visits to his best friend. No one deserved to sit in a cold hospital in uncomfortable chairs just waiting for more bad news to come. And that's all they'd get from Will's doctors.
His mood soured and he glanced down at his hands before she started speaking again. Will snorted and shook his head, "Perhaps a little bit of both." He didn't say it loudly, nor was he entirely happy with giving her that information, but he'd face the consequences of his actions later. He didn't have the energy for it today. When he looked back up, he smirked, "But mostly because I'm generally a dick." Better for her to know that a simple lay couldn't fix all of his attitude problems. It would barely scratch the surface.
"And you? Not getting enough physical attention or are you just generally a bitch?" Because this went both ways. Will might have goaded her, but she didn't always have to respond with such venom. And something about her made him believe she had a bit of a dark side too. Perhaps because he didn't want to be alone in that.

Chuckling with a small head tilt in agreement, Cassidy couldn't help but relax in her chair. Will was actually managing to get her guard down, which was irritating but still, he was keeping her mind off of Elena and her absence. She supposed she should thank him for being as abrasive as he was.
At the turnabout, she laughed out loud and shrugged. "Probably a bit of both. But nobody seems to want to touch me so...can't do much about that." She responded, pushing all of her hair over one shoulder. "Although I'm pretty sure you're the only one I'm a bitch to." She looked up at him with smirk.

The dead, but never mourned Will's eyebrows furrowed. He could not believe that no one would want to touch her. As he looked at her, he could just imagine how soft her skin was, her hair silky. Her lips, he stopped his thoughts there and focused back on what she was saying next. He heard a few words, that he was the only one she was bitchy to, but he didn't react at first.
He finally shook off his thoughts and snorted, "Yeah, well, you're not that special. I'm a dick to everyone." Will shrugged, "And I highly doubt that no one wants to touch you, you're probably just too clueless to see all the poor saps that fall all over you." Like him. He was that sap right now.

The glazed look Will sported while she spoke made Cassidy raise an eyebrow. Was he bored of her already? She supposed she shouldn't have been surprised. His next response made her snort, more for the fact that she was literally thinking the same thing than the actual statement.
"You wound me, Spencer." She placed a hand over her heart, feigning hurt. And his compliment, followed immediately by an insult stunned Cassidy as she tried to comprehend what he had just said. Pursing her lips, she studied his face before shaking her head in amusement.
"I don't get you." She simply said, leaning back into her chair with her arms crossed over her chest. "I'm going to see if my cousin is done with...whatever." She stood up and paused just beside him. Looking down, a small smile quirked the corner of her lips. "You can go if you want but...it'd be nice if you stayed." Her hand lifted on its own accord and hovered near his shoulder before dropping to her side. She shouldn't have done that.

The dead, but never mourned Will rolled his eyes and offered a short laugh, "I'm sure." Of course they both knew he didn't give her any special treatment. Or maybe the special treatment was that he yanked her every which way. One minute he was nice, joking around with her. The next he was cold and distant. Will himself didn't know how to deal with her. He needed to distance himself, but he was always so drawn to her. She was intoxicating, for whatever reason. Perhaps because she challenged what he thought he knew about people.
When she got up, his eyes lifted with her. She paused beside him and he could practically feel the electricity between them. Her hand lingered briefly and he felt his body tense before she let it drop. And there it was, his out. She wanted him to stay, but he couldn't. This had gone on for far too long. Will gave her a smile and a nod before she walked away. Once she was out of sight, he grabbed his empty cup and stood up.
Will paused at the chair. Cassidy was going to hate him more than ever after this. He took a deep breath, threw the cup away and stalked out of the hospital. He needed a drink, or several.
