BECAUSE YOU'RE FIRE, AND I'VE BEEN COLD MY WHOLE LIFE.
First days - Riley had experienced her fair share of them. Luckily, making up a cover story for why she and her older brother had moved around so much was easy. Military brats - a mostly absent father who got relocated a lot and as such, so did Riley and her brother. One would think she'd get used to it by now, but in truth, the more she moved around, the more detached she felt. She'd gone from making plenty of friends and getting her hands deep in various school activities to finding herself on the outside, looking in.
She'd gotten through most of the day keeping herself mostly unseen. She could thank her white hoodie for that. The hood made it so much easier for her to keep herself from being noticed. And of course, her white ear plugs made it easier to ignore anyone who felt like striking up a conversation with the new girl. Standing on the bleachers, far away from any of the gathering crowds, she leaned over the railing. She'd found the bleachers to be a nice spot to find peace; the boys were all too busy playing sports and the girls were too busy watching, which meant that nobody paid her much attention.
Once practice ended, Riley waited for the bleachers to empty before she ventured down onto the field. Walking along its edges she noticed something on the ground; Leaning down, her fingers laced around a silver chain. It was simple, but beautiful and the way the sunlight made it sparkle caused the Riley's lips to purse into a smile.

The Underestimated Lacrosse was definitely something that Miles had gotten into at a young age. His uncle had introduced the sport to him when they were living in England before everything happened. After they left England, Will had been searching for a place to settle in and call home for some time and in that search he'd considered college for the two of them. Miles had been one of the star lacrosse players at the couple of schools that he'd been to, quickly climbing the ladder, only to be pulled to move again because Will got paranoid. They'd finally settled in here and he was happy that he had found a way to make friends despite being newer. He supposed it was because he was always the happy go lucky type.
One of the things that Miles held onto from his home was a silver chain that he kept close at all times, hanging from his neck. He never took it off. It was a safety net for him, something that kept him tethered to who he came from and where he came from.
Once practice came to a close, Miles had followed his teammates into the locker room. Not long after, as he'd removed his jersey and pads, his stomach dropped when he realized the silver chain was no longer hanging from his neck. In a frantic panic, he took off out of the locker room and back towards the field. One would think with his senses heightened, he might have found it quicker, but he was coming up blank. Nothing caught his eye anywhere on the field, no matter how closely he scanned. When he looked up towards bleachers he noted the hooded figure with something glistening in her hand. His heart quickened and he jogged over to meet her, "Uh h-hey. Sorry to bother you, but uh, I-I dropped my chain during practice. Have you by any chance come across it?" He was breathing heavily from running around from practice and then in search for his necklace.
