Murder on The Dancefloor
But you better not kill the groove
Being in the honeymoon period of a relationship was sweet. Everything was roses and cotton candy and so. much. making out. Max could hardly keep his hands off his girlfriend and everyone around them could see it. He had been beaten with a heavy book by Spencer multiple times because he kept playing footsie with Charlotte and accidentally bumping into Spencer's foot, much to Miles' chagrin.
Not to mention all the times they kept making out instead of doing the group activity Spencer cubed had invited him on. Bowling, karaoke, clubbing. Make out sessions, light petting sessions, basically vertical dry humping sessions. He was just glad Charlotte was a more than willing participant in all of it.
Nights in bed were just an extension of their daily make out sessions with a smattering of dinner and conversation. He was on an endorphin rush and he wasn't afraid to show it.
It was during a break between rounds two and three as he was catching his breath that he pulled Charlotte close to him, covering her with a blanket after feeling how cold she was. "Hiyuh." He grinned, kissing her nose affectionately before running his fingers through her soft, silky hair.

Dressed Like an Angel
I couldn't look you in the eye
Charlotte had been enjoying the last few months more than she had the last few years. Ever since England, she'd felt better. Max was a large part of that, for obvious reasons, but it went beyond. Miles and Spencer's relationship had come out of England right alongside hers and Max's. She'd have been lying if she said she anticipated her best friend and her brother's relationship less than her own. Seeing them both together and happy was just the icing on the cake for her.
But it did help that she had Max. Their honeymoon state was a sickening display of affection for everyone around, but she was absorbing it all as much as she could. Every kiss or touch or as Miles called it 'grope,' made her feel like weight was being lifted from her shoulders. Except it was always replaced because although they'd been happy as could be, there still hung this dark cloud over Charlotte's head. Her ability she'd always thought was so much easier than Miles' because she could manipulate other people's feelings where he could only ever feel and understand feelings. However, her own emotions were far more erratic than her twin's and she envied him that.
Charlotte had been distracting herself with endless sex and excitement in her new relationship, but she knew that eventually she would need to discuss it with Max. If by some miracle they got more serious, she knew it could cause severe problems for them down the road.
She was breathing rather heavily and shaking from the sudden chill against her bare shoulders. Char nuzzled against his chest for warmth and smiled at his greeting before she rolled her eyes, "I can't believe I sleep with you sometimes." Her fingers slid into his hair and she curled her fingers around it, giving his lips a light kiss, "You're lucky you're cute."
You're so very special, but I'm a creep.

"Sometimes? Yeesh." He responded as he accepted the kiss, grinning at her remark. "I know. It was the only way I knew I could get you." He chuckled, pressing his lips against her shoulder and making his way down her arm. Gently, he pushed her on to her back so he could lay his head on her stomach, kissing it lightly.
"I swear you bring out the perv in me." Max mumbled against her stomach, chuckling at the very idea. He then went silent for a while before looking up at her. "You don't actually mind, do you?" He asked. It was laughable that he was asking that now but he did realise that he should be asking her anyway.

I couldn't look you in the eye
His grin made her melt and she couldn't stop looking at him with that silly look everyone got when they first started dating. She was becoming a walking cliche with the butterflies and the incessant making out, but he made it worth it. Charlotte laughed and bit her lip, "You know, you're probably not even wrong." When he rested his head against her stomach, her fingers ran through his hair.
His smart comment made her snort and she flicked him in the nose when he looked at her, "You were a perv long before me, Parker." Her fingers went back to stroking his hair and she closed her eyes. She could have fallen asleep, but his question made her peek her eyes open. "Are you seriously asking me that? As if I wouldn't have beat you to a pulp if I did mind," It wasn't as though she was some weak, little girl that didn't know how to say no. He may have been cute, but he wasn't that cute. Besides her ability could have always nudged him in a different direction of emotions if she tried. He seemed susceptible enough to it, given that he adored her.
Charlotte continued letting her fingers move through his hair and to his jaw, admiring the sharpness of his features. She adored him as much as she was pretty sure he adored her. "Max, can we have a teensy bit of time for real talk? No distractions until after?"
You're so very special, but I'm a creep.

"I'll take it." He responded with a chuckle. Honestly, he really did think his looks were what got him dates anyway. He was still entirely unsure why Charlotte even liked him beyond his smile. And he was actually okay with that for now.
He rubbed his nose when it was flicked before tilting his head in agreement. "You're probably not wrong there either."
A sheepish grin grew on his face when she defended herself. Although that wasn't exactly what Max meant, he was glad she wanted this as much as he did. He rubbed her stomach lightly as an apology and also an appeasement.
When she asked him if they could talk, Max didn't really think too much of it, despite being aware of the stigma behind those words. But they were in a good place, he didn't have any qualms about them so worrying was of no use. He nodded and pushed himself up to lay down beside her, pulling the covers over him up to his chest. He propped himself up on his side and looked over Charlotte.
"What's going on in there?" Max's eyes moved up to the direction of her forehead before going down to her big blue eyes.

I couldn't look you in the eye
Charlotte turned on her side and propped herself up on her elbow so that she was facing him. Although she had called for a serious topic of conversation with no distractions, she still couldn't help but lean forward so that she could kiss him while he was close enough to. She had to worry a little about their conversation, for fear of how he'd react to knowing she could manipulate emotions. If he took it the wrong way, she could lose him and it was kind of nerve-wracking.
She settled back on her elbow and sucked in her lower lip, contemplating on how to start. She reached out for his hand so that she could lace their fingers together and she took the comfort from that to begin. "Too much," She answered with a light laugh. Taking a deep breath, she squeezed his fingers and continued, "I need to tell you something that might be a little freaky, but like, I'm not any different, okay?" It was always weird confessing being a mutant to a non-powered human. She'd lucked out in the respect that her family was made up of them and her best friend was one. Even her older brother had found a powered girl. And yet, there she was, sitting with the only non-powered one of the bunch. Aside from the England clan.
Her eyes dropped and she sighed, "I'm, uh, I've got...I've got this ability."
You're so very special, but I'm a creep.

Max reciprocated the kiss gladly, breathing her in as he did so. He couldn't help it, she was just too intoxicating. As he ran his fingers through her hair, he watched her facial expression shift and wondered whether something actually was wrong.
He laughed along with her and looked down at their joined hands before looking back up at her with a curious frown.
When she finally answered, he breathed a sigh of relief before laughing, pulling her close to give her a kiss he poured his relief into. "You scared me. I thought I'd done something wrong somewhere." He laughed again before pulling away. "Sorry. No distractions. What is this ability?" He asked, now very curious.

His reaction caught her by surprise and she placed her hand on his cheek as he pressed his lips to hers. While it wasn't what she'd expected, she reveled in the dizzying effect the kiss had on her. He pulled back and she settled herself again, trying to regroup the thoughts that had just scattered everywhere. She pecked him on the lips once more before she flashed him a smile, "You haven't done anything wrong, babe. Pinkie promise."
His curiosity made her grin sheepishly and she squeezed his fingers once more. "Okay, okay, now that you got that off your chest," She gave him a smile and sighed, "It's emotional manipulation. It sounds way worse than it is! Like just because I can coax you into feeling something doesn't mean that I have. I swear. I pinkie swear!" Charlotte's words came into a rush and she tried to slow down, "That's why my emotions are all haywire and why I have panic attacks and get so crazy sometimes. Aside from my natural personality, but like, yeah. That's uh...that's all."
You're so very special, but I'm a creep.

Charlotte's smile did a whole lot of good to ease Max's worries, even more than her words did actually. He sighed exaggeratedly with relief, adding a forehead wipe before letting her continue.
Admittedly, when she mentioned her ability, Max couldn't help but feel a little odd about it. But the rush of words coming out of Charlotte's mouth made him chuckle. He figured there couldn't be any way that Charlotte was the type to ever use her abilities for her own gain.
It also brought back the memory of the panic attacks that he had been witness to.
"Jeez, Char. That can't be fun." He ran his fingers through her hair before stroking her cheek.

I couldn't look you in the eye
The fact that he wasn't getting up and moving to retrieve his clothing was a good sign. She could tell by the look on his face initially that he was concerned about it, but he wasn't running for the hills. Not yet. He even laughed at the way she was forcing all of the words that were in her head out as fast as she could. She just wanted to be sure that he heard it all before he drew any conclusions about them and about her.
His fingers slid through her hair and across her cheek and there was a tingling the whole way where his skin touched hers. Her heart expanded in her chest and she smiled, leaning into his hand. "It's not. At all. Ever." Charlotte scooted closer to him and wrapped her arms around his waist, "Okay, now that I got that out. I guess I should probably ask you if you have any questions or concerns about it." She realized that she was breaking rules by cuddling up next to him, but she didn't want to be too far from him anymore.
"I should probably mention that you're kind of the only normie in a sea of powered people. So uh, I'm sorry I roped you into that."
You're so very special, but I'm a creep.

Murder on The Dancefloor
But you better not kill the groove
Max was already moving close towards Charlotte when she started moving towards him, further indicating to him personally just how much this didn't affect how he felt about her at all. When she opened the floor to questions, he had to think long and hard about what he could and even wanted to ask. He didn't have a lot, honestly because the only one he wanted to ask had already been answered.
And then when he did have another question regarding the status of her brother and best friend, she inadvertently answered that as well. He laughed at that before shaking his head is dismissal. "Honestly, I kind of had a feeling? I mean I get twin intuition but how you and Miles are around each other is next level."
For a moment, he just spent the time stroking her hair and enjoying her proximity, blissful in their bubble. She had been right to maintain that she wasn't any different. Max had been privy to the mutant world. Hard not to be what with unusual crimes and situations everywhere around him. And there was always that school up the mountains people seem to be talking about all the time. It hadn't been a stretch for Max to put two and two together. The fact that his girlfriend was one didn't seem to be a problem at all.
"It doesn't matter to me, by the way. If I hadn't made myself clear." He grinned before pressing his lips on her forehead.

The explanation he gave over his conclusions made about the twins made sense. She had seen the way people looked at them when they were together, like they were the same person in two bodies. There were some people that looked at it as freaky or weird, but she appreciated that he hadn't been too weirded out by it. She nodded, "Yeah, it's a little intense, isn't it?"
Her cheek rested against his chest and she was happy that the conversation, as short as it was, hadn't backfired on her at all. Of course there was more to it than just what she was capable of, but she didn't want to get into the messy details yet. They had barely started dating, there was plenty of time for her to mess it up later. Her fingers traced patterns on his chest and she nuzzled against him, "You took that a lot better than I expected actually. I mean, yeah, we're kind of all surrounding normal people, but..." She had to think about the way her parents had reacted.
They'd been uncomfortable about the twins' abilities and downright unaccepting of Will's. It wasn't wrong for her to believe that he could react poorly. Charlotte looked up at him and smiled, "I knew I made a good choice with you."

"Not any more intense as you and Spencer." Max shrugged. "If I hadn't known better, I would have thought you two had a thing." He chuckled. He snuggled her when she curled into him and he sighed happily.
When she spoke again, he laughed lightly. "I mean, if I'm being honest, it's kinda intimidating to be the only one in the group without any powers." He admitted before smirking playfully. "It just means I'm special." He chuckled.
"Oh yes, yes you did." His smirk deepened before rolling over her, pinning her arms to her side. "I believe we were slated for round three?" he raised an eyebrow.

I couldn't look you in the eye
HIs comment about Spencer made her snort and outright laugh. He was not the only one who thought so. Charlotte grinned up at him, "Who's to say we don't?" If there was anyone that she loved more than her brother or her boyfriend it was easily Spencer, they were soulmates of a different kind and she couldn't imagine her life without her best friend. That they both had boyfriends was a non issue because Miles was fully aware of their closeness and Max didn't seem to have too much of a complex about it either.
Her fingers traced patterns against his chest and she laughed again, "Oh you sure are special, most definitely." But she adored him and she didn't mind that he was the only one without an ability. She still thought he was incredible and he came with such little baggage that she wondered why someone like him would ever want to settle for a girl like her.
They rolled over and she was pinned down, her eyes lifted to his and she narrowed them. Her adorable pervert. "This is not healthy, I think you may be a sex addict," She smirked playfully and arched an eyebrow, waiting for him to disagree. Charlotte would be okay with him being a sex addict with only her though.

Max made a face at Charlotte when she teased him with that question. "Okay. Fine. If you're gonna cheat on me, at least it's with Spencer. But poor, poor Miles." He shook his head somberly before cracking up. Of course he understood the relationship between Charlotte and Spencer. They'd grown up together, it just made sense how close they were.
The connotation behind Charlotte's words made him snort and poke her stomach.
Charlotte's remark made him wink and smirk at her, shrugging one shoulder before leaning down to capture her lips with his. "Only with you, love." He murmured against her lips.
