He propped his elbows on the bed as he extended his hands to reach out to Layla. Her remark had him chuckling before he shook his head. "A beautiful mess." He smirked affectionately, his eyes trained on her face. "Lay, we're not here for a quick fix. Hell, I ain't tryina fix you at all."
Patch took a deep breath, exhaling slowly through his mouth to bide time. "We just don't do extremes anymore. You wanna move, we can go for walks. You can meditate, exercise, just...in moderation. Chores can wait." He tilted his head slightly, trying to make her see reason still.

His hands reached out for her and she didn't hesitate to take them in her own. She laced her fingers through his and squeezed them tight because now she was completely unwilling of letting him go. She took a deep breath and could feel the tears starting to fill her eyes again. She shook her head because she didn't believe him when he said she was beautiful but also because she believed that he thought she was and she took comfort that he didn't want to fix her.
Layla's eyes lifted to him and she felt the tears starting to slide down her face one at a time. They couldn't do extremes anymore. She nodded slowly, acknowledging his words because she would try to do what she could. It was his baby now, too, not just hers. Pregnancy was a hard thing to wrap her head around, even the second time. Her emotions were heightened and she was crazier than normal. But she wasn't completely irrational all the time. There were brief moments where she understood exactly what he meant, she was just too stubborn to admit it.
"I'll try it your way," She said quietly, the tears still slipping down her cheeks because there was just no end to them when she was pregnant.

When she took his hand finally, Patch climbed on to the bed and adjusted himself so he could hug her as tight as possible without squishing her stomach. He gave her soft, slow kisses all over her face and shoulder. He didn't ever want her to feel that he didn't love her because he did. With ridiculous amounts. He'd been patient for so long and now he didn't want to be anymore. Not with her.
With her agreement, Patch slid his hand over her stomach and stroked the top with his thumb. He rested his head on her shoulder and sighed. "You will?" He asked. Not so much for confirmation but just a show of confidence.
He nudged his nose against her neck and placed a kiss on the area where she was most sensitive. "Love you, Harlow."

All You Have Is Your Fire
don't you ever tame your demons
The moment his arms wrapped around her, her arms were around him. She closed her eyes and ran her fingers through his hair and down his neck. She absorbed the comfort she got from feeling his skin underneath her fingertips. There was never a moment, even as much as they fought, that she had stopped loving him or that she had loved him less. With every fight, she just loved him more because he was her person. He'd always been her person and she wanted him to always be her person.
His hand slid over her stomach and she grinned at the way their nugget responded to his touch. She felt him kick against her side and she melted, her hand moving to lay over her best friend's. "I will, as long as you tone down the assholeishness," She turned her head to press her lips against his forehead.
Layla could feel the hysterics stirring in her chest as he told her he loved her and she tried hard to bury them so that it didn't get out of hand. She turned and wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face in the crook of his neck, "I love you so much. Even when I act crazy. Even when you say things I don't want to hear."

Layla's request for him to tone down his regular self was met with a low chuckle and a short nod. "I can do that." He responded, leaning against the kiss as it came. His admission of love was met with enthusiasm, which was always a good thing. They didn't often say sappy things but this pregnancy was bringing out a lot of emotions from both of them.
"That tends to happen a lot with us."
He breathed her in and pulled her down on to the bed. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close, kissing the back of her neck before running his hand over her stomach. "Three more months and we can see him." Patch whispered against her shoulder.

All You Have Is Your Fire
don't you ever tame your demons
Laying against the pillows with his arms tight around her, she closed her eyes and a smile graced her lips. She let her fingers trace patterns along his arm and she sighed quietly, "Three months is so long. I just want to see him, I want to see what he looks like." She'd been impatient about Nicholas' birth, but it was nothing like this. She'd worried about Nick looking more like his father than he did her, but now she begged for their baby to look more like Patch.
She turned around so that she was facing him and reached up to cup his cheek, "We still need to talk about names. I want him to have a name before he's born." Layla had named Nicholas on her own, settled on a name shortly after she found out it was a boy. "I feel like I should include my brother's name in there somewhere, ya know? I didn't with Nicky because of how I felt about the pregnancy and now... I mean, I'd just really like to."

Patch chuckled and nodded. "I know. I wanna see him now too. I bet he looks just like you. Nick turned out like you too. Lord knows we don't want the kid to look like me." He grinned against her shoulder before loosening his grip on her so she could turn to face him. He nipped at her wrist when she cupped his cheek, nodding along with her suggestion.
"As a middle name? Benjamin Lucas Adams. We could call him Benny. Or Jam." Patch chuckled before another suggestion fell from his lips. "Jammin' Benny." He laughed at his own joke, not even caring whether Layla thought he was funny too.
She most likely didn't.

Her eyebrows pulled together and she frowned before placing her finger over his lips, "Shut up. I want him to look exactly like you. Your eyes, your smile, those cheeks." She moved her hand from his mouth to pat his cheek and grinned. She already had a son that looked like her, and even then, Nick had darker hair and lighter eyes. His structure mirrored hers though. Layla was begging for their little nugget to look more like Patch. "Besides, you were the cutest baby. All chunky and and adorable."
His suggestion to make her brother's name the middle name made her smile. She liked paying homage without it being the main focus. But her face scrunched at the name Benjamin. He didn't feel like a Benjamin to her, but he seemed to wiggle inside her at the nickname Jam. Layla pursed her lips and broke into a smile, "What about James Lucas? We can call him Jam or Jamie. None of that Jammin' Benny thing." She rolled her eyes, he was right in thinking she didn't find him all that funny. At least he was pretty.

His lips protruded when Layla placed her finger on them before he grinned. "I knew you couldn't get enough of me. Now you want a mini me. Enough is enough, Layla Grace Harlow." He clicked his tongue a few times before shrugging at her comment. "I mean true. I was definitely the cutest baby on the compound, I have pictures to prove it."
Her eye roll had him rolling his before he nodded. "James Lucas Adams. Like J-Lo." He chuckled and shielded his face if Layla wanted to strike him. "Don't hit my face!" He squeaked, giggling as he did so.

Layla rolled her eyes again and rubbed her nose against his, "There's never enough of you, Patchykinz. You're my favorite." She didn't even care how sappy she was being because the words were true. Their baby had to be more like him, she needed another one. Nick had his personality almost exactly, but she wanted the baby that shared their DNA together to look like him.
The cute, sappy moment dwindled with his jokes. The J-Lo comment was met with an unamused expression from her and she poked his sides, "You are such a giant ass! Take this seriously dammit, before I beat you!" She pulled her eyebrows together and put on a serious expression that was highly dramatized. "I'm serious Patrick, focus."

Hardly one to refuse kisses of any kind, Patch returned the nose rub and beamed at Layla's sappiness. Over the years, Patch had slowly scratched at Layla's hard surface to reveal the marshmallow that she was. He was absolutely proud of the fact that he had managed to do that because there hadn't been many people who achieved that. Nick didn't count obviously because he was her son. So Patch happily basked in the glory of being the very rare few who have.
He continued laughing as Layla got annoyed by his joking. "Okay fine fine! Jesus, your fingers are like knives. I have a doughy figure but even I can still feel them." He rubbed at the spots Layla had poked before coughing and pulling a straight face. "Alright. Yes. I do believe James Lucas Adams is a mighty fine name befitting our DNA combination." He nodded.

All You Have Is Your Fire

If Patch made any mention of how he'd turned her into a marshmallow, she was pretty sure she'd hit him. She liked to believe that she was still the hard ass that she'd always been. Obviously she softened with their son and she was bound to soften further with their next, but it was not because of Patch. Layla refused to acknowledge that he melted her, even though it was obvious with the way she was around him. All he had to do was hold her hand and she turned into a gooey puddle of love. It was disgustingly perfect.
Layla snorted at his 'doughy figure' and rolled her eyes. If anyone had a doughy figure, it was her. She glanced down at her stomach and frowned, she couldn't wait until their son was born so that she could be small again. With his serious tone and straight face, she looked at him unamused. Leaning forward, she turned her head so that it looked as though she was going to kiss his cheek, however, instead of a light peck, she bit him. "You're such a massive pain in my ass."
She kissed him where the teeth marks were and she nuzzled his neck, "You're so lucky I love you, Adams."

"I'm only doing what you want me to, wife." Patch responded to her comment, hissing at the bite before grinning at her admission.
"I tell myself that every damn day, Harlow."
Patch sat up in bed and pulled Layla in between his legs before kneading her shoulders. "Hey, I am sorry about what and how I said what I said earlier. You know that right? I wasn't trying to imply anything." He pushed her hair to one side so he could kiss the side of her neck. He continued to massage her shoulder as he leaned his head against the side of hers.
"Everything about you is something to love, whether you gain a pound or lose it. You're not perfect but you're damn near close to it. And I don't give a shit if that sounds cheesy, it's the truth."

Layla grinned at his words and allowed him to pull her up with him. Her hands rested on his legs and she closed her eyes as he began massaging her shoulders. She knew that she was probably the most spoiled woman on the planet. The man of her dreams was her best friend who had always given her anything that she ever needed. He did everything for her and she couldn't figure out a way to repay him. Her body relaxed under his hands and she nodded as a response to his apology.
Leaning back against him, she reached up to take his hands and wrapped his arms around her. She settled his hands against the bump where their baby was curled up and she could feel tears starting to slip down her cheeks. There really was no guessing when each emotion would rear its ugly head, but the tears that came now were happy. Layla turned her head to kiss him on his cheek a few times. "You're too good to me. I know I'm kinda crazy sometimes, but I just love you too much," She said against his skin. She leaned her head back against his shoulder and eased into him, "I don't know what I'd do without you."

He was relieved that she had accepted his apology. He knew she would but he had to be sure. After the years they'd been together, fighting over stupid things was a norm. It was patching up afterwards that was the most important. They hadn't had a fight that lasted more than a day anymore.
Patch happily let Layla slide his hands over her bump and he stroked it with his thumbs. He pressed his lips against the back of her head, breathing her in and sighing happily. Accepting the kisses on his cheek, he smiled at her words. When she leaned against his shoulder, Patch moved one hand up the side of her face, turning it slightly before kissing her lips gently, longingly, as he reciprocated the love.
"Probably still be kick ass." He said after pulling away from her lips. "Even more maybe. I'm just dead weight." He chuckled and kissed her again. "I'm the lucky one here. You gave me Nicky and now this little nugget. And you've saved me more times than I can count."
