imma say all the words inside my head
Don't you tell me what you think that I could be
After being berated by his sister about what she expected his behaviour to be on the trip with her best friend for an hour in the morning, Dylan made his way over to Adrian's apartment. He had been so swamped with work the past couple of days that he didn't even have time to text Adrian or worry about what could happen on this trip.
The weird relationship they had was becoming a problem to Dylan. He actually cared about what she thought and that never happened with the women he had previously been with. If anything, the women were the ones who cared what he thought of them. The shift of power concerned Dylan and he didn't know what to do with that information.
As he parked the car on the curb and walked up to her apartment, he almost doubled back when he realised he should just text her. But it was stupid to go back now because he was already halfway there. "Dammit, Paige, you're an idiot." He said as he stood in front of her door and rang the bell.

All The Boys
She came here to entertain you
Packing for California usually went smoother. She'd throw in sundresses and bikinis and that was that because she knew she'd get to enjoy her time there. This was different because she wasn't sure what the trip was going to involve. Her mother had a few months and they'd explored every part of California together when she was healthy enough to do so. And she was always alone with her mother. Not once had she brought a guy with her on this kind of trip and yet there she was, planning on going with her best friend's brother that she'd slept with a few times.
She'd never been nervous to go back home. Her nerves only spiked when she heard her bell ring. Adrian ran into the bathroom, checked the mirror, fluffed her hair and patted her cheeks. Once she felt a little better with how she looked, she darted down the hallway to the door and took a breath before opening it to the pretty face of her best friend's brother. That was all she could think of him as because anything else was confusing.
Adrian looked up at him with a tilt of her head and smiled, "Well, well, well. Who'd have thought that after the last time you ended up in my apartment, that you'd be picking me up here purposefully." She looked down briefly and bit on her lower lip before she made up her mind. She stretched up to kiss him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Adrian didn't linger for long and after just a few moments, she dropped her arms and stepped back into her apartment, gesturing for him to come in. "I'm just finishing some last minute packing."
Isn't she a dream come true?

He slipped his hands in his jeans pocket and looked at Adrian with a smirk at her greeting. It dropped when she kissed him and wrapped her arms around his neck. He was caught by surprise but surprisingly, it was easy to reciprocate. Though his hands didn't leave his pockets.
When she stepped back, he followed her in and took in the sight of her apartment properly. The last time he was here, he didn't actually have time to. He took note of the little trinkets scattered around the place.
He closed the door behind him and followed Adrian where she disappeared to. When he found her, he closed the gap between them and curled a hand around her waist. He bent down slightly and pressed a kiss on her neck. "If I weren't on a time crunch, we'd probably be repeating that night right now." He remarked huskily.

Adrian leaned back against him when he wrapped his arm around her waist. She couldn't shake the smile that came to her face and she knew that it was more than just thinking he was hot and a good lay. He was starting to become something more in her life and it was making her a little more nervous for him to meet her mother because she knew that Amelia was going to see it written all over her face.
Her arms circled his and she sighed, "It is a shame, I have to admit." She turned her head to look at him and kiss his jaw, "But we should have time later, right? In some fancy hotel room or in my old bedroom, whichever you'd prefer." Adrian couldn't help the grin that came to her face and she turned around to face him while her arms stretched up to his neck. After a long kiss on his lips, she smiled and gave him one more peck. "Okay, now I'm gonna finish packing."
It didn't take her much longer, she threw a few last minute items into her already stuffed bag and she zipped it carefully. "So, how does this whole jet thing work? Do you have your own airport, is there security? Bag checks? I've done the first class thing, but this is on a whole new level." Frankly she wasn't sure what to expect from their plane ride to California, but she felt her hopes getting higher, especially with the way he'd wrapped around her so easily after coming into her apartment.
Isn't she a dream come true?

Dylan was trying hard not to find it dangerously easy to be around Adrian but he was failing miserably. How did this even happen? He was so furious with himself. He didn't want complicated and having her in his life this way was complicated. Why does complicated look and feel so good though?
"Or on the plane." He gave a light chuckle.
He reciprocated the kiss and let his hands slide down low on her body. He let her leave his embrace and pursed his lips when he saw her bag. Compared to his carry-on, hers was massive.
"Yeah, we have our own landing strip just outside the city. The pilot is a family friend. His dad used to fly us before he retired and now he's taking over." He answered. "And no, there are no bag checks."
Once it looked like she was done, Dylan took her bag and wrapped an arm around her waist. "Come on."

"How glamorous," Adrian snickered and rolled her eyes. She didn't mind so much though. It wasn't going to be the same as a normal plane. And they'd be the only ones on it. Except for the pilot, but he could just stay up in his little pit thing. It was hard to focus on anything when his hands slid down her body, but she had to finish packing!
She nodded in response to his answers and she chewed on her lip. It was still weird that he was so wealthy. She knew wealth, but she didn't have a plane and she didn't have any pilot friends. He grabbed her bag for her and she smiled, wrapping both of her arms around his waist and she gave a light squeeze. Once they were out of the apartment, she locked the door and went to his car, "I feel like some weird celebrity which is funny because I'm a model, this shouldn't be all that crazy to me."
When she climbed into his car, she bit down on her lip and looked out the window. "I didn't tell her I was coming. And I didn't tell her about you, so uh, yeah. I just figured I'd give you fair warning." Which was necessary given how her mother was.

Dylan could only laugh at her remark. He was used to the lifestyle and he'd been in it since birth so Adrian's fascination with it flew right by him.
After depositing her bag in the back seat, he started the car and turned to her when she spoke. "So who should I be when we see her?" He asked with a teasing tone, to lighten the mood in the car.
He eased his car on to the road and took the fastest route to the landing strip.

Adrian tapped her finger to her lower lip, contemplating his question. She'd never brought any guy to meet her mother, she wasn't even sure what kind of guy her mother would deem fitting for her. But she knew the kinds of guys her mother took a liking to in general and they were very similar to the man sitting in the driver's seat. There was just something about his type that got Amelia every single time.
And Adrian didn't really want that to be what she went for, but there she was, the smallest signs of infatuation written on her face.
She turned to him and narrowed her eyes, "I'm thinking you should try something way out of your comfort zone. Like, I dunno, a decent human being." Adrian was quick to flash a smile at him to show that she was joking, but she had to take the opportunity that was given to her. Besides, that was their dynamic, they said terrible things about each other, but also banged it out. Adrian placed her hand on his knee and leaned her head back against the seat as it lolled over to look back out the window.

Adrian's tease had him rolling his eyes. "As opposed to what?" He asked, his tone teasing. It wasn't that he was offended by her words, but it did bring up the question, how.
Dylan could admit to the fact that he really wasn't a good person. He did what he wanted, when he wanted, consequences be damned.
Sure when he was much younger, he was a mirror image of his father. Courteous, charming, everything a little gentleman was. It fell on the wayside when he hit his teen years. He still retained his charm but he no longer was a gentleman. It just seemed so hard to be one.
But he supposed if push came to shove, he could be that guy again. If it meant keeping Adrian coming to his bed.
They turned into a field and could immediately see the plane glinting in the sun. A smile came upon his face as he drove right next to it. Two attendants rushed over to open their doors before grabbing their bags from the backseat.
Dylan walked over to Adrian and slid an arm around her waist before guiding her towards the plane. "I suppose I could do decent human being."

She gave him a smile, but remained quiet as she looked out the window. Her chest felt fluttery as they drove because she was just thinking about what was about to happen. She was about to get on a private plane with a guy she'd been sleeping with for a short period of time that she planned on introducing to her mother. It was a whirlwind of crazy and she didn't quite know what to make of any of it, but she felt better. Better than she had in weeks.
When the pulled up to the field and drove past what she assumed was his plane, her eyes widened and she stared out the window. It wasn't long before her door opened and she stepped out carefully, not quite trusting her legs to keep her steady. She was thankful when he looped his arm around her waist and she felt a little more steady than she had. Adrian looked up at him with the same wide eyes. Her lips stretched into a smile and she wasn't sure what else she could do but wrap her arms around him and squeeze, "I can't believe this is happening."
Adrian turned her face into his chest and took a deep breath, "You're doing a really good job at the decent human being thing so far, Dylan." He was taking her on a private plane back home. It was actually happening.

Dylan could no longer pretend that Adrian wasn't giving him feelings. He supposed the turning point was the night she came into the library. Dylan didn't like this feeling one bit.
He rubbed her back before moving up the steps to the plane. The inside was designed like a hotel room with wide plush seats with attached mini bars.
A stewardess welcomed them on the plane. "Welcome back, Mr. Paige." She smiled warmly at him and then at Adrian. "The captain will be out shortly, he's just making a few last minute checks."
Dylan nodded at her as he pressed against the small of Adrian's back. "Why don't you choose your seat?"

Adrian was too busy looking at every single thing that she could see in the plane. It was like some five star hotel. It was much larger and spacious than she'd expected. The seats were huge and she was in complete awe of the whole thing. She couldn't even hear what the stewardess was saying, she didn't even look at her.
When she felt the pressure against her back, she turned her eyes back to him and she bit her lip. She didn't care where she sat, she just wanted to be close to him. It was silly and it was sappy and she hated herself for thinking it. She didn't dare say it though.
Adrian smiled up at him and took a few moments to choose, but when she did, she plopped down and crossed her legs. She couldn't help that her smile was getting wider as she looked at him. It seemed too natural.

Smiling at her sitting in the much too large seat for her, Dylan whispered to the stewardess to remain scarce for the flight and she smiled knowingly back at him before disappearing into the back.
Dylan moved to the seat beside Adrian and settled in. He was about to reach out to her when the pilot came out with a beaming smile. "Dylan! It's been a while, man." He walked over to Dylan as he stood up and gave each other a hug. "How's your dad?" Dylan asked and they launched into a conversation about their lives before Dylan moved to introduce the pilot to Adrian.
"Adrian, this is Liam."
Liam turned to Adrian and gave her a knowing grin. "Hey, Adrian." He reached a hand out to her before gesturing to the cockpit. "I should get going. Technically the plane can fly itself but I'll be out of the job if I let it, right?" He winked at Adrian and went back to the cockpit after another shake of Dylan's hand.
Sitting back down, he turned to Adrian and smiled. "Dude's a talker." He shrugged.

When he chose the seat beside her, she did her best to ignore the looks she caught between him and the stewardess. She wasn't sure what it meant and she wasn't sure she wanted to. There was plenty of time for her to be upset and second guessing herself. This trip was going to be hard enough without immediately assuming the worst.
She wanted to reach out to him, but before she could, he was standing. Adrian folded her hands in her lap and her eyes dropped as they started talking. She wasn't used to being so out of the loop on things. She was a model, usually it was her that was getting attention from everyone, but now she was just a guest on Dylan's plane and she didn't know what she should be doing. It was more shocking that he introduced Adrian to his friend. In fact, it was sort of terrifying because it was only solidifying what she already felt. This was more than just him doing what he thought was right.
Adrian gave the man a smile and shook his outstretched hand with a nod. He didn't linger much longer and she was grateful when he went back. She was social, sure, but this wasn't familiar territory. Dylan sat back down and she quickly took his hand in both of hers. She was nervous and she was uncomfortable, but she had him. "He seems nice. You've known him a while, yeah?"

When Liam was gone, Dylan turned and looked at their hands before looking up at her. She looked out of place somehow and Dylan's smile softened.
"Yeah, we grew up together. My dad got his this job when they were both starting out so it's basically a family business." He chuckled, rubbing his thumb against the back of Adrian's hand.
"You okay, Adrian?" He asked gently. It felt so weird, being this concerned over someone else. Especially someone who hated him mere months ago.
